Why Ordinary Mopping Loses This Fight
A conventional mop and a bucket of cleaner move dirt around as much as they remove it. On textured vinyl plank, on aged tile, on the grout lines and baseboards where grime actually collects, the flat fibers of a string or flat mop skate over the low spots and leave a haze behind. How To Run It Right
Simple tool, but a few habits get the most out of every pad.
- Mount it. The cloth backing grips hook-and-loop mop heads directly, and it's built to fit Doodlebug pad holders and Universal 4" × 9" utility scrubbing pad holders. For detail and wall work, a hand block gives you the most control.
- Wet it — water only. Charge the pad with water and go. Do not add detergents or sanitizing cleaners; the pad is engineered to cut with water, and chemicals only shorten its life without improving the cut.
- Rinse in place, don't strip it. When the face loads up with dirt, leave the pad mounted, run it under the tap, and squeeze out the excess — then keep going. The fresh melamine underneath does the rest.
- Towel-dry floors after. The urethane core holds a lot of water by design. On floors, follow your pass with a dry towel or dry pad so you finish streak-free.
- Retire it when it thins. Like all melamine foam, the face wears away as it works — that's the mechanism, not a defect. When a pad thins out, swap in the next one.

Melamine foam cleans by micro-abrasion, so on high-gloss and easily-marred finishes — polished/glazed coatings, high-gloss fiberglass, mirror-finish surfaces — it can dull the sheen.
