The Better Brush Research
Flex-Hone Alternative

The same proven plateau-honing principle that's been seating rings and deglazing cylinders for decades — built with tighter quality control and priced like you have a choice. Because you do.

Same Honing Principle. Honest Pricing.

The flexible ball-style hone has been the go-to for deglazing cylinders, seating piston rings, and producing a plateau finish since the early 1970s. The Pro-Graad TwistFlex Cylinder Honing & Deburring Tool is built on that exact proven principle.

TwistFlex is self-centering, self-aligning, and self-compensating for wear — and it delivers the same oil-holding cross-hatch and true plateau finish that seats rings and controls oil. Run it with a hand drill, drill press, or CNC. The difference between TwistFlex and the legacy brand isn't the concept. It's what you pay for it, and what actually shows up in the box.

Where TwistFlex Earns the Switch

// 01 — PRICE

Fair Price, Not Captive Price

Ball hones are size-specific, and the category gets priced like you have no alternative. TwistFlex gives you a machine-shop-quality finish without the specialty-tool markup.

// 02 — QUALITY

Built to Survive the Job

The most common ball-hone failure is abrasive separating from the stems mid-job. TwistFlex is built to finish the cylinders you bought it for — and the next set, too.

// 03 — FITMENT

Order By Your Bore Size

You order by your actual bore size. The brush runs roughly 10% oversize and conforms into the bore thanks to flexible stems — so it stays self-centering through the life of the tool.

// 04 — SUPPORT

A Brand That Responds

Sizing questions, application questions — you get a direct, fast response. Buyers specifically call out quick, helpful answers before and after the sale.

Honest About What a Ball Hone Is — And Isn't

A flexible hone follows the contour of the existing bore. It deglazes, seats rings, controls oil, and deburrs. It will not correct cylinder taper, out-of-round bores, or deep gouges — that's rigid-hone or boring-bar territory.

Get the Finish Every Time

Run it with liberal lubricant — honing oil, 10-30 motor oil, or transmission fluid — and a steady-RPM drill. For cross-hatch, less is more:

→ TWO PASSES MAX  |  20–45 SECONDS RUN TIME  |  ~10–55 STROKES

Follow that and you get a consistent, professional plateau finish on every cylinder.
